Massage Therapist
Kristin C. is trained in Swedish and Shiatsu massage and has over three years of experience. She believes massage is a powerful tool for healing and relaxation. She uses a combination of Swedish and Shiatsu massage to harness the benefits of both techniques. Swedish massage is the use of long gliding strokes, kneading, friction (moving across the muscle fibers), and sometimes percussion or tapping. Swedish massage is known to improve circulation, and decrease recovery time for a strain by flushing lactic acid out of the muscles. Shiatsu massage is a use of compression with the fingers, thumbs, and the palm of the hand. Some stretching, similar to what is done in Thai massage, is also used. Kristin typically uses this technique to warm and relax muscles before Swedish techniques are used. If you wish to remain fully clothed however, you may opt for a full Shiatsu massage. With either technique, the depth or firmness of pressure will be adjusted for your comfort.
